Alcohol: 14%
Grape(s): 85% Tempranillo 10% Graciano 5% Mazuelo
Localization: Rioja, Spain
Tasting Notes: Leathery berry and raisin aromas are ever so slightly oxidized. This crianza feels zesty and lively, with plum and red berry flavors. A tight, racy finish is a bit raw but honest, and overall this is a nice Rioja if red fruit flavors and acidic snappiness hold appeal.
Notes: Traditional farming methods, no herbicides used. Hand harvested into small baskets. Destemmed grapes were fermented and macerated with skins for 30 days. Aged 2 years in French and American oak and then for 30 months in bottle prior to release
The Domain: Viña Otano comes from a family winery, whose beginnings go back to 1886 when “Grandfather Don Román Montaña” began to engage in the production and aging of wines, becoming the founder of a series of master craftsmen in wines. The current generation of grandchildren continues this work with great success.
The winery is located in Fuenmayor – La Rioja, in the sub-zone of Rioja Alta, a town that is historically known for the high quality and capacity of its wine to age well.
