1926
Messias Baptista is registered as an individual merchant at the Tribunal do Comércio de Anadia, representing the foundation of MESSIAS.
1928
Starts the export of consumer wines to several markets in Europe.
1937
Messias Baptista is admitted and registered as effective member of the Commercial and Industrial Association of Gaia.
1940
Between 1930 and 1940, Messias Baptista acquired several properties in the Bairrada Region, having planted new vineyards and restored others. Of these estates, Quinta do Valdoeiro stands out.
1946
Opening of MESSIAS headquarters in the city of Mealhada. With about 35,000 square meters, this set of cellars and warehouses was built between 1938 and 1943 and are still today the main production unit of the company.
1950
Is inaugurated the Cineteatro Messias that Messias Baptista decided to build to endow the city with a quality cultural equipment. The Municipality of Mealhada honors Messias Baptista for the work by bestowing it with the rank of Commander.
1953
The company is converted into a joint-stock company, now renamed Sociedade Agrícola e Comercial dos Vinhos Messias.
1956
Acquires, in the Douro Region, Quinta do Cachão: a property with 200 hectares in the area of São João da Pesqueira.
1973
Messias Baptista renounces the Administration of MESSIAS and delegates to its successors the destinies of the company.
1974
Messias Baptista dies on October 9 leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that is perpetuated by the family.
1999
Continuing the acquisitions policy followed by Messias Baptista, MESSIAS acquires Quinta do Penedo,with an area of 20 hectares and located in the heart of the Dão Region.
2017
Nowadays, MESSIAS continues to produce wines and sparkling wines with quality recognized by the most specialized critics and in the most prestigious national and international competitions. The company exports about 65% of its production to the five continents.
