Tasting Notes: Ruby red color with garnet highlights, intense aromas, persistent, notes of undergrowth and small red fruits, and light hints of vanilla and jam, on the palate it is elegant and well-orchestrated with a long finish, and tannins are soft and ripe.

95 points, Wine Enthusiast: “($90) The almost impossibly fresh nose drops you right onto a cliff's jagged edge, where sprouts of mint and fennel fight their way through cracks in the stone, before friendlier aromas of cherry, spices and earth eventually emerge. That spicy fruit livens up the palate, which features notes of strawberry, plum, orange peel, cloves and licorice, while polished, lithe tannins swing from a trapeze above it all. Superb. A great achievement. 95 points.”Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, Mar 1, 2024 Edition

The DomainThe farm ‘Pietroso’ started in Montalcino in the 1970s thanks to the passion of winemaker Domenico Berni. He aimed to produce a limited quantity of fine wines such as Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.

Today the business is run by family member Gianni Pignattai who also has the expertise of Alex Dondi, an enologist and Federico Becarelli, an agronomist. The farm covers 13 hectares, 5 are cultivated with vines for the production of Brunello di Montalcino and there is one hectare of olive trees.
