Food Pairing: Pairs well with seafood, tapas, grilled fish, cheeses, and Thai cuisine.
The Domain: After spending some time as a winemaker in a Grand Cru estate in Bordeaux, Dimitri Glipa decided to settle in the heart of Roussillon in order to turn his hand to making fortified wines. He opted to take on the running of the Mudigliza estate in the sought after micro-appellation of the Fenouillèdes. Like many talented producers in the area, Dimitri cultivates extremely old vines that are situated at high altitude.
Mudigliza is an imaginative mash-up of the owners’ names, Muriel Samson and Dmitri Glipa. The husband and wife team farms small, high elevation parcels of syrah, grenache and carignan vines which are planted on schist and granite. All the fruit is hand-harvested, fermented in tank, and aged in barrique.
