Alcohol: 12%
Grape(s): Pinot Noir
Localization: Burgenland, Austria
Tasting Notes: A delicate bouquet of fresh strawberries and red berries which follow through on the palate. The flavors are beautifully balanced with a vibrant, lively and refreshingly dry finish.
Notes: Hillinger dedicated this label of its "Secco" sparkling wine to the pink ribbon campaign. A percentage amount per bottle goes to the "Österreichische Krebshilfe" Austrian cancer charity.
Food pairing: A companion to salmon cakes with remoulade sauce; with smoked chicken breast over spinach salad with a strawberry/balsamic vinaigrette.
The Domain: The HILLINGER history begins like any other classic winemaker story: In 1990 Leo HILLINGER took over his father's wine business. From this point on, the story took on a rapidly upwards curve, which can mostly be attributed to HILLINGER junior's extraordinary enthusiasm.
Leo HILLINGER quickly developed the business into an internationally renown wine merchant by extensive structural reform and the purchase of good vineyards around Jois and Rust. Passion, ideas and especially energy are words used to describe Leo HILLINGER today. Success - through hard work carried out with friends and with fervent intent.
In 2004, Leo HILLINGER put six million Euros into a new production site in Jois with an adjoining tasting and seminar centre, state of the art cellar technology, and sophisticated architecture and excellent design. In 2005, HILLINGERS opened its first flagship store in Parndorf, Burgenland. In the meantime, this has grown to include lounges in Vienna, Salzburg, Munich and Kitzbühel. With plans for more.
