The Domain: Annalisa Bocchino, who runs the estate today, is the third generation of her family to do so. The irrepressible Beppe, Annalisa’s father, is now officially retired, but you can still find him doing almost everything around the winery. “Our objective is to transmit our passion for the wines, combining innovation and experience, always staying faithful to our values of family and tradition.” – Annalisa Bocchino.

The Bocchino family has been farming the picturesque hills outside of Canelli since 1930. They own 12 hectares of sloped land on loam and limestone soils. Indigenous Piemontese grape varieties like Nebbiolo, Barbera, Moscato, Dolcetto, Cortese, Grignolino, and Freisa dot their hillside vineyard holdings. The family’s approach remains largely unchanged from when Liggia and Aurelio bought the property: handwork in the vineyard, lo-fi winemaking, and much love and care. Annalisa Bocchino now manages the estate and consistently produces a line-up of modest, uncomplicated wines that speak of their place with a candidness that is difficult to find in wines that are double their price.
