The Domain: Folicello is the brainchild of Antonella and Marco, who started the winery in the 80s. The estate is located in Castelfranco Emilia, near Modena, Emilia-Romagna region and it's certified organic.
Antonella and Marco in the ’80, when they began, it was almost fun, they intended to produce a wholesome glass of wine for themselves and for some friends of theirs. Today their farm is endowed with a new small but efficient cellar, where they make wine with the grape they pick in their vineyards, and with a laboratory where they produce jams and other products made with grape, all organic.
They have lived in the countryside for a great part of their life, learning to appreciate its value and discovering the potentialities it offers, above all in the quality of life. Their lifestyle is due to their desire of discovering and sharing with their customers the big value-added of a biological vine-growing and wine-producing production of a qualitative high-level. When they began, organic products were a bet, nevertheless, they have based their farm on that.
For some years their daughters have joined them in this fantastic adventure proud of carrying on the family tradition.

We would consider all wine to be "Natural". The term "Natural Wine" has the connotation of lacking a touch with nature. The winegrowers we champion are those who are farmers first. They seek to capture the uniqueness of the site (terroir) in the purest way possible. The product is as pure as possible and without wine-making flaws (brettanomyces, mercaptans, volatile acidity, etc.
Raw, in this case, we define as realistic and not manipulated. The winemakers use the least amount of intervention as possible. Wine should be made in the vineyard, not the cellar. The winemaker's job is to get the wine into the bottle in the purest form possible. There are additives that go into making wine, some are essential and some are not. Wines in this category do not have extra additives. They are free of added sulfur, or have the most minimal amounts possible in order to provide shelf stability for the consumer to experience the wine as the winemaker intended it to be.
