Tasting Notes: The 'Chignin Jaja' from Domaine Berlioz is a white wine from Savoie with great personality, vivacity and finesse. It is one of the Domaine's most emblematic labels, which has helped raise the reputation of a wine region that for years remained in the shadow of other French regions. It expresses a nose of mineral salts, flowers, white fruits and citrus fruits, for an incredibly fresh sip balanced by the gluttony of the fruit.

The Domain: 5 hectares in Savoie, specifically in Chignin. Domaine Partagé-Gilles Berlioz is one of the heavyweights of biodynamic viticulture in Savoy. Its wines are expressive of their terroir and have personality to spare. Wines characterised by an important gustatory impetus and a well-defined energy.

Gilles Berlioz is a winemaker in Savoie, France, known for his commitment to biodynamic viticulture and his philosophy of shared craftsmanship. Originally a landscaper, he inherited a small vineyard in 1990 but continued working other jobs until he expanded his estate to seven hectares by 1999. However, he soon realized that bigger wasn’t necessarily better, so he scaled back to focus on organic and biodynamic farming.

In 2016, he renamed his winery Domaine Partagé, meaning "Shared Domaine," to reflect his belief that winemaking is a collective effort—between himself, his wife Christine, his team, and the land itself. His vineyards, treated like a carefully tended garden, are worked by hand and horse, emphasizing sustainability and respect for nature. His wines, made from Jacquère, Mondeuse, Altesse, and Roussette de Savoie, are highly sought after for their purity and expression of terroir
