Tasting Notes: This Haut-Médoc blend opens with a deep, expressive nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis, layered with hints of raspberry and blood orange that add brightness and lift. On the palate, the fruit is ripe and concentrated, framed by savory notes of bay leaf, graphite, and warm earth that speak to its Médoc terroir.

Subtle touches of vanilla and cocoa emerge from well-integrated oak, while iron and cedar lend structure and depth. A thread of mint and licorice runs through the mid-palate, adding freshness and intrigue. The finish is long and harmonious, with red fruit and spice lingering on velvety tannins.

Winery Story: Château du Retout was revived in the 1950s by the Kopp family after decades of decline due to phylloxera, war, and inheritance fragmentation. It merges the legacy of three estates: Château Retou-Rosset, Château Salva de Camino, and Château Moulina. Today, it remains family-run, with winemaking led by Eric Boissenot, known for his finesse and structure. The estate is classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur and consistently earns high praise for its quality and value. With 9,600 cases produced and 1,990 imported, the 2022 vintage ranks #45 in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2024
