Grape(s): Chardonnay

Location: Oregon, USA

Tasting Notes: Behold another beauty teeming with vitality and juiciness. The A to Z Wineworks Oregon Chardonnay’s aromatics leap from the glass, intertwining lemon drop candies, mace, and melon with freshly made apple sauce and white alpine flowers. A bright burst of sun-ripened citrus notes and tropical fruit on the palate, adding texture and freshness. Experience a delightful undercurrent of frosting, bruised pears, and powdered sugar blends with notes of a steel-fermented Chardonnay, evoking honey crisp apple, ripe tangerine, and leafy white peach. Firm acidity, moderate alcohol, and creamy feel marry well with the natural fruit sweetness. Despite its dense layers of fruit, it remains lean and nimble, leaving hints of wet stones, zesty pomelo, and Makrut lime to linger in an enduring finish. All of this makes the A to Z Wineworks Oregon Chardonnay a sure crowd-pleaser.

Notes: Unoaked style with modest acidity. Fresh, lively, and food-friendly. America's best-selling Oregon Chardonnay.

Food pairing: Ideal with grilled seafood, roast chicken, creamy pasta, or fresh goat cheese.

Winery Story: In 2002, A to Z Wineworks was started by Oregon wine industry veterans: Deb Hatcher (Eyrie), Bill Hatcher (Domaine Drouhin Oregon), Sam Tannahill (Archery Summit) and Cheryl Francis (Chehalem). The inaugural blend was honored by Food & Wine magazine as the Best American Pinot Noir under $20 and accolades have never slowed. The group committed to offering the highest quality wines for the greatest sustainable value as well as building a company that combined commerce with conscience.

In 2006, the group welcomed another Oregon wine veteran, Michael Davies, as winemaker, and partnered with Gregg Popovich (Coach of the NBA San Antonio Spurs) to buy REX HILL Vineyards and Winery (established in 1982). A to Z has more collective Oregon winemaking experience than any other winery, experience that can make a difference in difficult vintages to stay true to the Essence of Oregon®.

A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir has twice been named to Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of the year; A to Z Oregon Pinot Gris is a perennial Best Buy; and A to Z Oregon Chardonnay has been America’s best-selling Oregon Chardonnay since 2005. Rosé, Rosé Bubbles, Riesling and a small selection of the best of the vintage, The Essence of Oregon Pinot Noir, round out the portfolio.

In May 2014, A to Z Wineworks was certified as a B Corp, achieving Best for the World B Corp status every subsequent year based on the rigorous assessment of a company’s environmental, social, and economic practices. In 2021, the company became the first Oregon winery to join International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), committing to work on decarbonizing the industry.

In September 2022, AtoZ Wineworks transitioned to a portfolio brand of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. Together with our brands of A to Z, Erath, and REX HILL, we are the leading producers of Oregon Pinot Noir. Amy Prosenjak, formerly A to Z’s President and CEO, became President of Oregon Brands, overseeing the combined operations of the three brands.
