Alcohol: 13.5%
Grape(s): 100% Cabernet Franc
Location: Saumur Champigny, Loire Valley, France
Tasting Notes: Juicy red fruit, silky tannins, and a balance of freshness with depth. It’s a natural wine crafted with long maceration and extended barrel aging, resulting in elegance and structure alongside vibrant fruit character.
Notes: Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and macerated for ~30 days. Aged in barrel for about 18 months, refining tannins and adding depth
Food pairing: It pairs beautifully with roast poultry or duck breast, where its lively acidity complements the richness of the meat, and with charcuterie or soft-ripened cheeses, which highlight its supple texture. Mushroom-based dishes such as risotto, lentils, or wild mushroom ragout bring out its earthy undertones, while herb-grilled lamb or pork harmonize with its savory depth. Altogether, Ruben 2020 offers a refined yet approachable companion to a wide range of dishes, making it an ideal choice for both casual meals and more elaborate dinners.
Winery Story: Domaine Bobinet was founded in 2002 by Sébastien Bobinet, who began with small parcels of old-vine Cabernet Franc in Saumur-Champigny. In 2011, Emeline Calvez joined him, bringing fresh energy and vision to the estate, and together they expanded the domaine and created new cuvées such as Ruben. Their philosophy centers on natural winemaking, with minimal intervention, long macerations, and careful élevage to highlight the purity of the Loire terroir. Over time, Bobinet has become known for crafting wines that balance freshness, elegance, and expressive character, reflecting both tradition and innovation in the Loire Valley.
