The palate is soft and complex, with a solid tannic structure that makes the wine suitable for a wide range of recipes, from the simplest to the most elaborate.
Notes: After eight months in steel and four months in barrel, this Nebbiolo delle Langhe has developed the fruity and spicy character typical of a traditional Barbaresco, but is designed to be consumed at a young age.
Food pairing: Pair this with a creamy mushroom risotto, aged cheeses or your favorite pasta dish.
The Domain: Cantina del Pino has a fascinating story rooted in history and tradition. The winery is located in Barbaresco, Piedmont, Italy, and has been run by the Vacca family since the 1920s. The story begins with Giuseppe Vacca, who purchased the property from Domizio Cavazza, a legendary agronomist and director of the Royal Enological School in Alba. On the day Giuseppe's son Luigi was born, Cavazza planted a pine tree in the backyard to mark the highest point of the Ovello hill1. This tree became a symbol of the estate, which was renamed Cantina del Pino.
The winery focuses on classic Piedmontese grape varietals like Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto. Renato Vacca, Giuseppe's great-grandson, convinced his father to start their own label in 1997, branching out from the Produttori del Barbaresco Cooperative1. Franca, Renato's wife, joined the business in 2013, and together they continued the family's dedication to quality wine-making.
Cantina del Pino is known for its elegant, age-worthy Barbaresco, thanks to the unique combination of cooler microclimate and limestone-rich soils on the Ovello hill. The winery's philosophy is to let the terroir speak through their wines, with minimal manipulation.
It's a beautiful story of family, friendship, and a deep connection to the land.
