The Domain: Amapola Creek Vineyards is a small, artisanal winery located on Moon Mountain above Sonoma Valley. It was founded by renowned winemaker Richard Arrowood, who built a reputation for varietal exploration and quality wines in the Moon Mountain District, and was officially established in 2013.

Arrowood, a legendary figure in winemaking, started his career in 1965 and worked at several wineries before founding Arrowood Winery in 1986 and later Amapola Creek in 2010. The winery sits on a 120-acre ranch on the western slope of the Mayacamas Mountains, a region known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Rhône varietals.

In 2019, Arrowood announced his retirement, and Amapola Creek was acquired by Brion Wise of B. Wise Vineyards, who continues the legacy of producing high-quality wines. The vineyard’s iron-rich soils have been yielding superb wines for over a century, and efforts are underway to replant 25 acres as organically certified estate vines.
