Alcohol: 13%
Grape(s): 100% Chardonnay
Localization: Côte d'Or, Burgundy, France
Tasting Notes: A wine with floral notes that stand out on the nose, followed by a beautiful mineral and chalky palate.
Notes: Demougeot’s Beaune “Clos Saint-Désiré comes from 0.45ha planted in 1979 on a medium steep slope nearing apex of Montagne Saint-Désiré with a southeast exposure at 300-340m on limestone bedrock and a shallow and rocky calcareous loam topsoil.
Aged in 90% old 228l and 350l oak barrels for 1 year, then racked into stainless steel tank for 5-6 months before bottling in the spring. It is not fined but it is lightly filtered, and the first addition of sulfites is made before the bottling.
Food Pairing: Wonderful with crayfish mousse, poultry in sauce, sole meunière, or goat cheeses (Crottin, Dôme de Vézelay, etc.).
The Domain: Rodolphe Demougeot took over his family's domaine in 1992 and has since transformed it into a beacon of thoughtful viticulture. With holdings in Meursault, Pommard, and surrounding villages, he farms organically and follows lunar cycles for vineyard and cellar work. His wines reflect humility, precision, and a deep respect for nature.
