Alcohol: 12%
Grape(s): Pinot Meunier
Localization: Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, France
Tasting notes: "Rive Gauche is a blanc de noirs of pure Pinot Meunier from nearly half- century-old vines, planted in chalky-clay in Le Port à Binson in the Vallée de la Marne. The purity, intensity and elegance of expression, both of variety and terroir, sets it apart from the handful of other top all-Meunier Champagnes being made today, evoking the spirit of the bohemian Parisian community of the same name."
Food pairing: Enjoy it as an aperitif, or it is also perfect with fine fish or white meat
The Domain: Bérêche et Fils has been a well-established Maison since the 19th century. The Bérêche brothers, Raphaël (winemaker) and Vincent (head of the vineyard), strive to produce champagne with a personality from top plot selections and the most natural winemaking possible. The family domain has existed since the 18th century, but these two brothers raised it to the top of the Champagne vineyards. In addition to the Bérêche et fils family domain, the two brothers have created a trading structure called Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche. This division is rare in Champagne, where the Maisons usually mix the lands and their own purchases. The grapes are selected with the greatest attention: the soils are plowed, substances are banned, and barrel aging is proudly supported. The range is around the Côte, Montagne, and Vallée in the name of the three great sub-regions of Champagne, followed by the name of the terroir. The two brothers have tasted hundreds of samples to achieve six cuvées of excellence. A domain that is a point of reference and a safe bet.
