Tasting Notes: Crisp, bright, and vivacious, CB+V is an aromatic white blend boasting a bouquet of honeysuckle, orange blossoms, ruby grapefruit, white peach, and jasmine tea. The entry is both bright and mouth-filling exhibiting refreshing acidity and roundness, opening to flavors of tangerine, lime, and lemon curd, lemongrass, ginger, white peach, and green apple. This delicious wine finishes clean and long with a lingering hint of lime.

Notes: The Chenin Blanc grapes were harvested at low sugar levels to ensure bright fruit character and low alcohol in the finished wine. In contrast, the Viognier from Lodi was picked at 24 degrees Brix to capture the floral and spicy nature as well as the viscosity. After the grapes were crushed, the press wine was blended with the free-run juice to increase palate weight. The juice was inoculated with two special yeast strains to maintain the fruity characters and then was fermented cold. To retain and highlight the fruit freshness of CB+V, the wine was fermented and aged in 100 percent stainless steel.

The Domain: Founded in 1978 by Gary Andrus, Pine Ridge Vineyards sits in the heart of the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, famous for Cabernet Sauvignon wines of distinctive power and elegance. We strive to produce the best cabernet sauvignon in Napa Valley.

Since our founding, Pine Ridge Vineyards has invested in 160 acres of estate vineyards, 47 of which are in our home appellation, Stags Leap District.

There are many versions of how the Stags Leap area got its name. The local Napa Wappo legend, the most common, says that a mystical stag (some say it was a Roosevelt elk) leaped between the craggy rock outcroppings, known now as the Stags Leap Palisades, to escape hunters. According to another legend, the indigenous inhabitants relied on deer for food and left the stags alone to preserve the gene pool. When the early settlers arrived, they saw these magnificent animals and called the area Stags Leap. Yet a third account relates to the Staggs family, who lived in the region on a ranch with a small vineyard. Finally, the name may simply refer to the abundance of deer and elk in the area combined with the word leap, commonly used to describe British and North American place names (this last reference is from Richard Mendelson’s Appellation Napa Valley).

We also own vineyards throughout the most renowned growing regions of Napa Valley: Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford, and Carneros. This great diversity of terroir inspires our winemaking team to craft wines that reflect the outstanding characteristics of their distinct origins.

Since 2003, Gustavo Aviña, our Director of Viticulture, has worked intimately with every Pine Ridge Vineyards estate property. He and his team understand the soils and climates of the winery’s vineyards. If he had to choose a favorite, Gustavo might pick Howell Mountain. He likes the way this steeply sloping vineyard is challenging to farm; it’s also the first vineyard he developed from the ground up for Pine Ridge Vineyards.

Today, the winery owns estate vineyards in five premier Napa Valley appellations: Stags Leap District, Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford, and Carneros. Everyone on our team, from vineyard to cellar, is united in the desire to create wines that honor their remarkable origins with a unique expression.

At Pine Ridge Vineyards, we are committed to and have always embraced sustainable practices.

We take every step we can to preserve the ecosystem of our region, and our Napa Green certification demonstrates our commitment as responsible stewards of the land. Our multidisciplinary in-house Green Team meets regularly to monitor and improve our practices and to implement the latest sustainable practices, ensuring long-term viability of our business and quality of life in our community. This philosophy allows us to deliver wines that express their natural origin and will be complex and elegant for years to come.
