Tasting Notes: A straightforward array of red berries and plums, delivered in easygoing style on the palate.
Notes: The soil is a clayey and chalky hilltop with southern exposure, it is aged 16 months in French oak barrels and plots are located next to the famous Chateau Reignac
The Domain: In 2012, Mr. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (of Château Angélus) joined forces with Mr. Philippe Nunes, the technical director of his Lalande de Pomerol vineyard, La Fleur de Boüard. With friends, they acquired a 6.6-hectare estate on a clayey and chalky plateau of Saint Sulplice and Cameyrac, as well as on the gravelly clays of Montussan, a perfect terroir for the culture of Merlot. The vines overhang a small river, La Laurence, from which the estate took its name. These two experts apply their experience to reveal the best expression of this Merlot and to produce an average of 12,000 bottles of Chateau Laurence per year. Like the great growths from Bordeaux, the cellar benefits from stainless steel temperature-controlled vats, and the wines are aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. This joint work is a success awarded by flattering comments from the most famous wine critics.
