The Domain: The Marqués de Griñón winery has a rich history rooted in innovation and tradition. It was founded by Carlos Falcó, the fifth Marquess of Griñón, who is celebrated as a pioneer in modern Spanish winemaking. The winery is located on the historic Dominio de Valdepusa estate, which has been in the family since 1292. This estate was the first in Spain to receive the prestigious "Vino de Pago" designation, recognizing its exceptional quality.
Carlos Falcó introduced advanced viticulture techniques, such as drip irrigation, and planted international grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot in the 1970s. The winery's underground ageing cellar, built in the 18th century, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure the highest quality wines.
