Tasting Notes: Very expressive on the nose with a predominance of red fruit and floral notes. Fleshy, energetic, and balanced. Excellent aging potential.

98 points, Decanter: “Eduardo Garcia has worked at Cos d’Estournel in Bordeaux, Domaine Hubert Lignier in Burgundy, and Ridge in California, but he’s most excited about what’s happening in Spain, especially Ribera del Duero right now. ‘The styles of the best bodegas are increasingly self-confident and distinctive,’ he adds. ‘And as the years pass, they are showing their class.’

It's easy to forget that the first vintage of Garmón was as recent as 2014, such is the quality of the wine. Still, the García family's long-standing association with the region has certainly contributed to its success. Picked 10 days later than 2017, this is my favorite release yet, combining vineyards between 30 and 100 years old in Anguix, Baños de Valdearados, Moradillo and Tubilla. Chalky, balanced, and effortlessly refined, with notes of red berries, fennel and spice, subtle oak and thrilling freshness. A truly great Ribera. 98 points.” –Tim Atkin MW, Decanter Magazine, “Ribera del Duero: Eight Producers to Watch”, Aug 2021

The Domain: The Garmón Continental winery was established in 2014 by Mariano Garcia and his sons Alberto and Eduardo in the village of Olivares de Duero, barely 12 miles from Bodegas Mauro.

With Garmón, the García family is committed to ancestral viticulture of small-scale, old, sparsely-grown vineyards and native clones located in the higher, cooler, and continental Duero areas with a longer ripening and later harvesting cycle. These factors condition the idiosyncrasy of an elegant and juicy red, of imposing and refined fruit expression.
