Grape(s): 100% Pinot Noir

Localization: Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits, Bourgogne, France

Tasting Notes: This elegant and ample wine is supported by velvet tannins. When young, it is fleshy and very aromatic, with aromas of cherry and strawberry, then undergrowth as it ages. It will enhance grilled or sauced lamb and veal and all fine cheeses.

Notes: The “Les Chaumes” plot (0.46 hectare) is located near the village of Vosne‐Romanée, near the grands crus of Vosne‐Romanée (a few meters from La Tâche). In addition, the vine is 85 years old and faces east. The Estate has HVE (High Environmental Value) certification. Which means that it practices sustainable and sustainable agriculture, free of insecticides and herbicides thanks in particular to mechanical tillage.

After manual harvesting, the harvest is destemmed. The whole berries ferment for 2 weeks in cement vats. The grapes from the “Les Chaumes” plot are hand-picked. After pressing, the wine is sent to the cellar in barrels (60% new oak) for a period of approximately 15 months.

The Domain: This wine is a blend of 3 plots in the same area, that’s why we use this unusual and poetic name in Burgundy. The selection of this name, “Cuvée Dame Juliette” is also a way to reward Bernard’s mother, Juliette Rion (still living in Vosne-Romanée), for her 60 years of vineyard work.

This wine is from three small plots (0.54 hectare) that are located in the south of the Village of Vosne-Romanée. For this field and for each vineyard of the Domaine, the family RION makes a sustainable and rational agriculture without insecticide and herbicide.

The name, “Dame Juliette” is a way to reward Bernard’s mother, Juliette RION for her 60 years of vineyard work.

After a manual harvest, grapes are destemmed and ferment in a cement tank during about 2 weeks. The grapes are treated manually every day. After the press, the wine will age peacefully in oak barrels (45% of new oak barrels) for about fifteen months.

Ageing potential: 5 to 10 years.
