Grape(s): Pinot Noir
Localization: Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Tasting notes: When Mother Nature offers a bountiful year, they routinely bottle this entry-level Pinot Noir. As the name implies, the “Select” is a selection of barrels representing all the vineyard blocks on the farm at the winemaker's discretion.
Food pairing: The most easy-going and approachable of all the Pinot Noirs, the “Select” is an estate-grown wine that accompanies a casual meal of salmon, lamb or wild game.
The Domain: Brick House Vineyards was established in 1990. The vineyards are surrounded by the fruit and hazelnut orchards above the Chehalem Valley, the rolling hills at Brick House compose just such a place. A New World site dedicated to Old World wisdom, and a way of growing grapes proven over a thousand years or more. At Brick House, "organically grown" is more than just a phrase on the labels of the wines. All of the fruit is estate-grown. All of it is certified organic.
