Localization: Roero hills, Piedmont, Italy — from southeast-facing vineyards at “Camplung,” known for expressive fruit and elegance.
Tasting Notes: Deep purple color. Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, and plum, followed by hints of cocoa, toffee, cinnamon, and caramel. On the palate, bright acidity balances the high alcohol, with velvety tannins and a smooth, elegant finish. No astringency, just fine-grained texture and harmony throughout.
Notes: Aged for approximately 20 months in large oak barrels. No component dominates, showcasing precision and structure. This wine is built for aging and will continue to evolve beautifully over time.
Food Pairing: Pairs well with braised meats, mushroom risotto, aged cheeses like Castelmagno or Pecorino, and hearty pasta dishes. Also excellent with grilled lamb or duck confit.
The Domain: Ermanno Costa’s Cascina Spagnolo estate is rooted in Roero tradition, crafting wines that balance power and finesse. The Superiore designation reflects extended aging and elevated quality, with a focus on terroir expression and cellar precision.
