Tasting Notes: Complexity, finesse, elegance and plenty of volume for its 20th birthday. Like a miracle of nature, this wine, boasting a magnificent amber color develops aromas of slightly acidulated dried fig, mixed with mild spices, followed by more surprising notes of fresh licorice. This wine offers an unexpected finish with great persistence.

Notes: Aged for one year in glass demijohns outside and then in 350-hectoliters oak casks

Food Pairing: This 20-year-old wine displays remarkably youthful and fresh characteristics. It will accompany blue cheeses like Roquefort or desserts made of chocolate and dried fruits. It can also be served with the best cigars. Open an hour before serving at 15°C.

The Domain: Mas Amiel is located in the heart of the Maury PDO, in the heart of the Côtes du Roussillon Village PDO in the Pyrénées Orientales. It draws all the strength of its wines from the schist territory found on the 150 hectares of the estate.

Founded in 1815, Mas Amiel is a true historical heritage that presents an incredible diversity of terroirs and landscapes. Each of the 130 plots has its own identity, with a unique combination of exposure and altitude, soil type (schist, calcoschist, gneiss...) and specific grape varieties (Carignan, Grenache, Lladoner Pelut).

In 1999, the estate was discovered by Olivier Decelle, and it was love at first sight. This winemaker set himself the challenge of giving Mas Amiel an international stature, while at the same time developing its spearheads, the natural sweet wines and a range of dry wines, which bear witness to the incredible potential that the estate has to offer different wines.

The meticulous work carried out on each parcel according to its specificities allows the creation of a very rich collection of sweet and dry wines, whose parcel-based or blended cuvées delight the greatest connoisseurs.

Mas Amiel obtained the BIO label in 2017, when the 150 hectares of the vineyard were converted to organic farming.

No more chemicals are used in the vineyard, and Mas Amiel is continuing its momentum and starting its official conversion to biodynamics, obtaining certification in 2020.

The reason for choosing biodynamic viticulture on the estate is because of what this virtuous practice does for the health of the soil and plants, and what it does for the grapes, to make them perfectly healthy.

Mas Amiel believes that only this practice can preserve the full potential of its territory in each of its wines, due to a deep understanding of the laws of life. How is this possible? Biodynamics favours the proper vegetative cycle of the vines, thanks to the dynamised preparations produced on the property, which are diffused on the soil or on the vines, according to the lunar and planetary rhythms.
