Alcohol: 14.5%

Grape(s): 100% Syrah

Location: Cornas AOC, Northern Rhône, France

Tasting Notes: Bright and intense with electric berry fruit, black cherry, leather, licorice, and blackberry. Silky, juicy, and well-structured with gripping tannins and a long, strict finish.

Notes: Blend from two vineyard sites: 60% hillside vines (16 years old) on decomposed granite and rocks for structure and spice; 40% bottom slope vines (40 years old) on sandy soils for acidity and balance. Destemmed, fermented in stainless steel for three weeks with daily pump-overs and pigeage. Aged in two- to five-year-old demi-muids for over a year.

Food pairing: Grilled lamb, duck breast, aged cheeses, and hearty stews.

Winery Story: Johann Michel is a self-taught winemaker who began his journey in 1997, inspired by tasting old bottles with his grandfather. Alongside his wife Emmanuelle, he farms just over 5.5 hectares using sustainable methods. His Cornas wines, crafted from lieux-dits such as Saveaux, Patou, and Les Côtes, are renowned for their intensity, elegance, and exceptional aging potential. The estate’s small size and meticulous approach have earned it a cult following among Rhône insiders
