Tasting Notes: Chateau Vieux Maillet displays a deep purple color. It reveals beautiful aromas on a fine nose with notes of blackcurrant, blackberries, and blueberries. Upon aeration, fine spices come forth and mingle with chocolate touches. On the palate, the Chateau Vieux Maillet reveals a beautiful structure with firm tannins. The finish is crisp and fruity, stretching out on a nice length, leaving the palate to appreciate this great Bordeaux wine's remarkable accuracy and precision, promising great aging potential.
The Domain: Chateau Vieux Maillet is situated on the east side of the plateau of Pomerol. Isabelle and Baudoin Motte, owner since 1994, sold the chateau in 2004. In 2005, a new technical staff was set up, and in 2006, the cellars were renovated and the vineyard was restructured. Grape-varieties: Merlot 90 %, Cabernet Franc 10 %.
