It’s the end of December and we’re thrilled to release our last Ethiopian coffee of the year. It’s not often we release coffees from Ethiopia this late in the year, but this late-harvest arrival was worth the wait! The Chelbesa washing station, established in 2019, is quickly earning a reputation for the quality coffees it produces. It is one of the many washing stations run by SNAP Specialty Coffee, so it’s no surprise that the final product is exceptional. This is our second coffee from the Gedeb region and it lives up to the reputation set by the Chelbesa Teshome. One of my favorite characteristics of this coffee is its structure - it’s heavy and coating like dried apricot with more nuanced notes of mandarin orange, plum, and black tea. This coffee is versatile lending to a more citrus-forward hand pour, a balanced and juicy drip brew, or a syrupy and fruity espresso.
