Alcohol: 14%
Grape(s): 85% Malbec, 8% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc
Localization: Curico Coast, Chile
Tasting Notes: Voluptuous and corpulent wine. Elegance and sophistication would be the best way to describe this wine that is characterized by its marked aromatic profile where black pepper, cherry, blackberry, dried plum, and cocoa stand out. Wonderful on the palate for being a meaty and powerful wine that does not attack the palate, pleasantly flooding it with juicy and soft tannins.
Notes: 100% new French oak for 10 months. Fermentation was carried out in micro-fermentation tanks, in ranges of 26°C and 28°C for seven days, to continue with a maceration for a period of another 30 days.
The Domain: La Roncière began in 1949 with Orueta’s dedication to making high-quality wines. Operating throughout Chile’s Central Valley with 740 acres under vine, the family has remained focused on small, controlled productions without industrialization. The third generation of the Orueta family works alongside winemaker Juan A. Muñoz to continue to cultivate and refine their wines.
Certified sustainable and selected from the best micro-parcels in the Idahue Estate. Seven clones of Cabernet Sauvignon are planted across 66 small blocks. Double Guyot pruning promotes desired vigor and yield control.
Located 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean, La Ronciere’s ambitious 500-acre Idahue Estate is their vision for the future. Prevailing coastal breezes, abundant sunshine, and rolling hills of ancient soils culminate in a privileged climatic and geological landscape. Years of research and a forward-looking approach drove the successful effort that saw Licanten granted D.O. status in 2018. The region’s potential is just being unlocked, and already the wines speak for themselves in a recognizable way, managing concentration and nuance in an expressly vibrant manner.
