Tasting Notes: Lovely purple-red color. Loads of crisp, fresh, bright, dark red fruits show grace, definition, and purity. Classic in the right way, with great aromatics, body, and length. It gives a generous roundness with smooth tannins. 

 The Domain: Josephine de Boyd is the second label of Chateau Boyd-Cantenac, a Left Bank property that was first formed in 1754 when nobleman Jacques Boyd bought a property that included some vineyards in the commune of Cantenac. Chateau Boyd-Cantenac came to be classified as a “Third Growth” in the 1855 classification.

The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 10,000 vines per hectare. The terroir is mostly gravel and sand soils. The vines are old, with an average age of 40 years. Much of their vineyards are located in the Cantenac commune, as the name implies, situated close to Chateau Kirwan and Chateau dAngludet.

Over the years, the chateau changed hands several times, being for some time the property of the Ginestet family - noted Bordeaux traders. Since 1932 it has been with the Guillermet family, with Lucien Guillermet today in charge. The 43-acre vineyard is planted to the classic Bordeaux mix of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, with Cabernet Sauvignon predominating.
