Tasting Notes: Soul of a Lion is the crown jewel of DAOU and an emblem of their quest to produce unsurpassed Cabernet Sauvignon from the terroir of DAOU Mountain. The wine presents deep red and purple hues in the glass. The nose is elegantly layered with notes of violet, strawberry jam, cassis, blueberry, and black currant. Generous flavors of red fruit, chocolate-covered blueberry, and baking spices expand into a rich, rounded mouthfeel, while vivid acidity and bright tannins join together on an exquisitely structured finish. The result is a wine of immense staying power that will evolve favorably for many years to come

Notes: 22 Months in 100% new French oak

The Domain: The story of DAOU Vineyards is one of resilience, vision, and passion. It begins with Georges and Daniel Daou, brothers who grew up in Lebanon. Their idyllic childhood was disrupted by the Lebanese Civil War, which forced their family to flee to France. It was in France that the brothers developed a love for wine, inspired by the rich winemaking traditions surrounding them.

Later, the Daou family moved to the United States, where Georges and Daniel pursued engineering degrees and built a successful tech company. However, their passion for wine never faded. In 2007, they sold their tech business and turned their attention to winemaking, purchasing a stunning 2,200-foot peak in Paso Robles, California, now known as DAOU Mountain.

The mountain's unique terroir, with its limestone-rich soil and ideal climate, became the foundation for their dream of producing world-class wines. Today, DAOU Vineyards is renowned for its exceptional Bordeaux-style wines, including the iconic "Soul of a Lion," named in honor of their father, Joseph Daou.

The Daou brothers' journey is a testament to their determination and love for winemaking. It's a story of turning challenges into opportunities and creating something extraordinary.
