Alcohol: 13%
Grape(s): Pinot Noir
Localization: Burgundy, France
Tasting Notes: Plenty of Pinot Noir definition. Brilliant purple red nose of wild red fruits, juicy red cherries on the mid palate with a long finish.
The Domain: Located in Ladoix-Serrigny (between Beaune and Nuit Saint-Georges), on the “Route des Grands Crus” just next to Aloxe Corton, the Maratray family own 19 hectares of vines producing 19 differents wines. They produce regional (Aligote, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir), Villages, Villages 1er Cru, and Grand Cru wines. The 3rd generation, the siblings Francois-Xavier and Marie Madeleine now operates the estate. They take pride in managing the estate with limited intervention, hand harvesting all plots and deploying a sustainable farming that should translate in an HVE certification in 2020.
