Alcohol: 13.5%
Grape(s): 100% Savagnin
Location: Jura, France
Tasting Notes: The Domaine du Pélican Arbois Savagnin Ouillé is a vibrant white wine from Jura, France, offering citrusy freshness, mineral depth, and a creamy texture reminiscent of fine white Burgundy.
Notes: The grapes for this wine are sourced primarily from the parcels named "Au Barby" and "Grand Curoulet” and grown in Jurassic ‘marl’ soil. Produced without the signature oxidative notes of traditional Jura wines and called Ouille to denote this, this Savagnin acts something like a Burgundy Chardonnay. Even so, this wine is still a Jura classic.
Food pairing: It complements seafood, fried dishes, and Asian-inspired cuisine like teriyaki tuna.
Winery Story: Domaine du Pélican, founded by Guillaume d’Angerville of Volnay fame, is known for bringing Burgundian precision to Jura’s native varieties. Their commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking has made them a standout in the region.
