The Domain: Gabin et Félix Richoux is one of deep-rooted tradition and quiet excellence in the heart of Irancy, a small village just southwest of Chablis in northern Burgundy. The Richoux family has been farming here since 1610, and today, brothers Gabin and Félix represent the 11th generation to carry on the legacy.

Their father, Thierry Richoux, was a pivotal figure in elevating the estate’s reputation, and their grandfather, Jean-Claude Richoux, was the first in Irancy to become a full-time winemaker. The family’s vineyards—about 18 to 20 hectares—are planted on steep, limestone-rich slopes that form a natural amphitheater around the village. These soils, shared with nearby Chablis, give their Pinot Noir wines a distinctive mineral backbone.

The Richoux brothers are committed to organic and biodynamic farming, with certification dating back to 2013. They hand-harvest their grapes, vinify with indigenous yeasts, and age their wines for two to three years before bottling—an unusually long élevage that contributes to the wines’ depth and age-worthiness.

They also produce two single-vineyard cuvées: “Cailles”, from clay-rich soils, and “Veaupessiot”, from older, south-facing vines. Their wines are known for their purity, structure, and ability to age gracefully, quietly standing among Burgundy’s hidden gems.
