Alcohol: 13.5%
Grape(s): 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre
Localization: Rhone Valley, France
Tasting Notes: Quite intense garnet color. Complex nose with scents of scrubland, red and black fruits, peppery spices, with light nuances of blond tobacco and fur. Very well constructed palate, we find the fruits very present, scents of scrubland, peppery dominants. The mid-palate is generous and ample, the finish is long and persistent.
Notes: The grapes are harvested manually at optimum maturity, they undergo rigorous sorting and are 100% destemmed. They are cooled to 12°C for a cold pre-maceration in order to extract a maximum of fruit and color. They are then assembled in stainless steel vats with trapping and temperature regulation. The fermentation time, much longer than for the fruity Côtes-du-Rhône, is 15 to 20 days. It will allow the extraction of more pronounced and persistent tannins to give more body to this vintage. This wine is bottled after 12 to 15 months of aging in vats only, thus allowing the tannins to round out.
Food pairing: Lamb. Meats in sauce. Grilled and roasted red meats. Game. Wild poultry. Strong cheeses.
The Domain: It is in the very heart of the Protected Designation of Origin area of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in Vaucluse that Domaine Roger PERRIN is located, a family estate where winemaking expertise has been passed down through the generations for over a century.
It was in 1968 that Roger PERRIN took over from his father-in-law, Paul BRAVAY .
By developing the family vineyard, Roger PERRIN created a new cellar in 1972. It was then that he began to bottle and sell his wines himself under the name Domaine Roger PERRIN.
Like his father, Luc PERRIN and his mother Yvette took over the estate in 1986 after Roger's death. Luc expanded the estate by creating a new cellar in 1999, where he implemented the latest technologies and techniques in winemaking and winemaking. A
passionate winemaker, he contributed greatly to the international development of the Estate.
An enthusiastic oenologist, Véronique PERRIN-ROLIN , Luc's sister, arrived at the estate for the 2010 harvest, after Luc's sudden death. Véronique worked for over 20 years as a consulting oenologist for 80 winegrowers in the Côtes du Rhône Nord (Côtes Rôtie, Hermitage, St Joseph, Cornas, etc.). She brings with her her expertise in winemaking and tasting to contribute to the best expression of the wines.
Xavier ROLIN , a son of Véronique, started working on the Domaine in 2012. Previously, he studied the world of vines and wine in the best schools in the sector and worked in large regions such as Saint-Émilion, Beaujolais and the Northern Rhône Valley.
With the entire team of the Domaine, Véronique and Xavier perpetuate the work of Luc and Roger by combining observation, respect for nature, know-how and of course, by remaining attentive to their customers . Domaine Roger PERRIN offers a wide range of wines, in the three colors, with great finesse and a beautiful expression, but always in the tradition of Châteauneuf du Pape, for the pleasure of everyone!
