The Domain: At the bottom of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the lovely village of Gigondas, Claude Roux shares his passion for wine and terroir with his two children, Isabelle and Julien. Notre Dame des Pallières is a very old family estate whose name comes from middle age and, more specifically, from the miraculous water source located at the edge of our estate. This source had the power to protect from the terrific plague. In the past, people built a chapel where the Virgin appeared. It only remains a wall and a wood statue which can now be found in the Gigondas church. Our grandfather, Lucien Roux, officially gave it his name in 1935.
The vineyard covers thirty hectares and produces famous respectful appellations about nature: Gigondas, Rasteau, Sablet, Lirac & Côtes du Rhône. Our wine estate gathers typical grape varieties from the Rhône valley, such as grenache, Mourvedre & syrah, to produce highly traditional vinified quality grapes.
Our vines find a strong anchor in a quaternary river alluvial soil under the Trignon valley favorable micro-climate due to exceptional sunshine. Our great-grandfather Jules ROUX planted the oldest vines we have in Gigondas.
Concerning nature and thanks to our authentic family history, we are proud to welcome you in the cellar of our Notre Dame des Pallieres wine estate to let you discover and taste our passion of wine.
