Tasting Notes: Very shiny and perfectly clear, black cherry-type red glow with hints of purple. Nose: intense and complex, fragrances of the Mediterranean garrigue, black pepper, and liqueur of small blackberries with a hint of menthol and roasted coffee. The early palate is nice and round, well-balanced flavor in mid-palate with silky tannins underlined by the present aromas blended with hints of candied prunes. Truly engaging and with a remarkably long finish!
Notes: Manual and green harvesting, grapes carted in small crates. Destemmed grapes have been vinified traditionally at controlled temperature.
The Domain: In 1970, the parents of Bernard Ancely founded the domain. Located at the foot of the "Montagne Noire" Ancely enjoys the gifted terroir of dry, rocky soils with a high chalk content. The vineyards are perfect South, South West oriented. As a child, Bernard already found it a privilege to work in the vineyards. Not helping was a punishment ... just a little different than other children at that age. Bernard knows every vine in his vineyard and knows what they need. After he took over the winery of his parents he recovered an old and neglected parcel and restored it. He made it the jewel of the estate and called it "Les Oubliées", the forgotten vines, which produce a wine for which each wine lover will be respectful. But actually, this applies to all his wines: an excellent result of hard work combined with know-how and a reflection of the wild nature that characterizes this beautiful region!
Welcome to the slopes of Siran, near the Capitelle, olive trees, and cascades of dry stones, you will be able to meet vines with twisted feet: Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, all swept away by storms, tested by droughts. These clay-limestone soils offer us the best of the grapes, real “beads of authenticity”.
Divided into plots of land supported by walls, Domaine ANCELY is one of the smallest producers of Cru La Livinière, but whether it is our Cuvée "La Muraille" or "Vignes Oubliés", the scents of garrigue, spices, mixed with red fruits give our wines an elegance with an intense finish which plays on extensions.
