Alcohol: 13.5%
Grape(s): 100% Shiraz
Localization: Barossa Valley, Australia
Tasting Notes: This wine is deep ruby with purple hues in the glass. On the nose, this Shiraz displays rich, ripe plum and berry fruit characters, which are complemented by subtle spice and oak character. On the palate, further notes of berries and spice are present with soft round tannins, which provide a mouth-filling richness to the wine.
Notes: The grapes are crushed and de-stemmed into fermenters. Yeast is added immediately once in the fermenter, and the ferments are pumped over twice daily to maximize color, tannin, and flavor extraction. Cooling is used to ensuring ferment temperatures remain in the 22-25 degree celsius range which will allow the fruit to display maximum fruit expression. Pressing occurs approximately seven days after crushing, and the wine is put into predominately American oak to mature.
The Domain: Milton Park is home to the Thorn-Clarke winery in South Australia, owned and operated by the Clarke family with six generations of grape growing and winemaking heritage. The Milton Park range of wines is made from grapes sourced from estate vineyards and other select vineyard sites in South Australia, allowing consistent quality year to year.
Consisting of Chardonnay and Shiraz, the Milton Park range displays a bright varietal fruit character complimented by the restrained use of oak. These wines are excellent for everyday drinking and a fine example of what South Australian vineyards can produce.
