It's entirely from hand-harvested estate-owned vineyards in Spain's renowned Toro D.O. and was made by "living legend" winemaker Mariano Garcia and his son, Eduardo. It's already earned great ratings including 92 points from View from the Cellar and 91 points from The Wine Advocate. ABV is 14.5%.
What does it taste like?
This has very deep ruby purple color. The aromas show abundant black fruit, berries, and spice along with a floral lavender nuance. The palate has elegant texture from aging in used oak barrels, as well as great depth and complexity. The flavors include plenty of black fruit and berries along with a smoky and savory spice note. The finish is long and concentrated. This is big, powerful, and very elegant.
Is it right for you?
It will appeal to just about anyone who likes robust Spanish reds. The concentration, power, and texture means it will also appeal to fans of Bordeaux or fine Napa Valley reds. It's been among our most popular Spanish wines for years -- impressing customers again and again with its quality, style, and terrific value.
Is it ready to drink?
Yes. This is delicious right now: powerful, balanced, textured, and ready to go with robust meals like grilled or roasted beef or lamb. Get enough to save some, though. The concentration and excellent balance assure this will pick up complexity and harmony as it ages. Enjoy it any time until it is 8-10 years old.
