Tasting Notes: Crafted with precision from six pedigreed sites comes a wine that beams with pale straw hue. The newest vintage brings wonderful aromatic intensity: candied lemon peel, white florals followed by crisp green apple. A creamy and viscous texture on the palate is buoyed by white nectarine and dried apricot that’s balanced with vibrant acidity, bringing focus to the wine’s finish that lingers with hints of flinty mineral notes.
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: A barrel sample, the 2020 Chardonnay is scented of baked apples and touches of almonds, flint and mushrooms, with those wafts of reduction still taking center stage at this point in time. The palate is medium-bodied, deeply fruited and pleasingly textural, finishing long and spicy.
The Domain: Owned and farmed by Paul Hobbs Winery, our estate vineyards are the pinnacle reflection of our desire to showcase the individuality of new and historical sites by crafting wine with purity, energy, and balance. From some of the most sought after vineyards in Sonoma County and Napa Valley, we aim to express each site’s origins with authenticity by working with the most compelling properties that share our core values and philosophy of farming. The Russian River Valley climate is defined by its proximity to the ocean, and is bordered by the Russian River and the Mayacamas mountains. Coastal breezes bring cooling fog through the Petaluma wind gap in the morning and evening, balancing the afternoon heat enjoyed in this appellation. This temperature differential creates excellent conditions to grow chardonnay and pinot noir.
