Alcohol: 13.8%
Grape(s): 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Localization: Sonoma County, California, USA
Tasting Notes: The Enos Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 begins with a perfumed nose of bright red and deep black berries, Spring flowers, and a hint of vanilla. The palate is smooth and supple with a seamless, easy drinking style that includes black plum, blueberries, red currants, and spice. This is a beautiful wine at an amazing value that will drink great over the next 4-6 years
Notes: Enos Cabernet Sauvignon delivers substantial value from the steepest section of Totem Ridge Vineyard across from Peter Michael Winery. The site’s rocky, well-drained soils are ideally suited for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon and are planted to clone 337, the backbone of many cult Cabernets. The vineyard yields just 2 tons per acre of intensely flavored berries.
The Domain: Jason Enos, owner of Enos Vineyards, is a native of California, and lives in one of California’s most important wine regions, the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County.
Jason’s interest in wine spans his entire adult life. After studying enology at university, he launched into an entrepreneurial career in the food and restaurant business, working for Lee Bassian (co-owner of Bassian Farms) to help chefs from all over the world source ingredients for their cuisine. For more than 8 years he learned firsthand about the importance of pairing high quality, fresh ingredients with just the right wines. His work brought him in direct contact with the growers and vintners of California’s most fabled wine regions: Napa Valley, Sonoma, Mendocino and the Central Coast.
His entrepreneurial spirit ultimately led him into a highly successful career in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he helped lead a small startup technology company to become one of the leaders in the industry. His success in technology opened the door to realizing his dream: To return to his roots in food and wine, and to produce outstanding wines in one of the great appellations of California. His dream was realized when he purchased an 8-acre estate in the hills overlooking the Dry Creek Valley outside of Healdsburg, California.
Since 2005, Jason has been transforming his home with its 5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vines into a premium wine-producing estate, complete with olive orchard and a newly completed wine cave.
A firm believer in sustainable farming practices and renewable resources, his entire estate is powered by solar and solar thermal, and the property is being transformed into a sustainable operation.
Jason lives in Healdsburg, California with wife Samantha, baby daughter Juliana, and dogs Sully and Boo.
