Grape(s): 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Localization: Napa Valley, California, USA
Tasting Notes: The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an unusually soft wine from Dunn. Aromatically expressive and nuanced, the wine offers plenty of immediacy, with attractive red cherry, plum, sweet tobacco, dried flowers and cedar nuances.
Notes: Aged 32 months in 100% new French oak.
94 Points - Vinous: The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a total knock-out. What a wine. In some recent vintages, the Napa Valley Cabernet has been a bit light, but in 2017 it boasts tremendous richness, power and depth. Plush dark fruit, gravel, dried herbs and spice all flesh out in a decidedly intense, kicked up Napa Cabernet. Give it a few years for the baby fat to melt away. This is such an impressive wine.
The Domain: High atop Howell Mountain, nestled among 150-year-old fir trees, is Dunn Vineyards. Since 1979 the Dunn's have been producing Cabernet Sauvignon. Their total production is now at 4500 cases, split between the Howell Mountain and Napa Valley appellations.
