Alcohol: 12,5%

Grape(s): Cabernet Franc

Localisation: Touraine, Loire Valley, France

Tasting Notes: This rosé, produced from Cabernet Franc, has appealing strawberry and floral scents balanced by firm structure and a soft, spicy feel on the palate.

Food Pairing: Superb with composed salads, vegetable terrines and, particularly, with lighter dishes infused with sorrel or chives.

The Domain: When Terry and I last visited Fabrice Gasnier at his home in Cravant-les-Coteaux, he had long completed the transformation of his 24-hectare estate to biodynamics, the agricultural discipline based on the teachings of Rudolph Steiner, who is best known today as the founder of the Waldorf Schools. “Biodynamics, according to Fabrice, “seeks to strengthen the vitality and resistance of plants, by improving natural exchanges. It also makes the vine receptive in the cosmos, to the lunar effect. Thus, the expression of the terroir in the grapes is optimized and is found in the wines. Biodynamic wines guarantee a good expression of the terroir.”

The Gasnier family has cultivated vines for 4 generations: three hectares in mixed farming initially, thirty hectares of vines today! The whole estate is run in biodynamics and organic farming , with Demeter and Ecocert certifications .

The Fabrice Gasnier area produces 9 red wines and rosé wines 2 spread across 3 ranges: Origins, The Essential and Confidential.
