This wine, the Petit Pas (little steps) pays homage to their sons, Julius and Gabriel, and features their footprints on the label. It’s a blend of about 40% grenache, 40% syrah, and 20% carignan, all from low-yielding old vines of 50+ years of age. After native-yeast fermentation, it aged for six months in cone-shaped vats. No new oak flavors here, just vibrant ripe fruit.
This deep ruby colored red wine has lively aromas of spiced red plums, raspberries and blackberries. The concentrated palate has zesty berry fruit along with licorice and spice notes. The long finish has velvety texture and echoes the flavors adding a touch of mineral. This has great concentration while staying light on its feet and never feeling hot or heavy. It’s just the right flavor profile for grilled meats, and it would also love to meet your roasts, your hearty stews, and even your herb-roasted chicken. You’ll love even all by itself.
