Tasting Notes: This Santenay 1er cru “Gravières” is a triumph – loads of dark cassis and violet fruit packed into a solid, inky core of fruit and minerals. And all wrapped up in a neat, classy, 13% alc.

Notes: Burghound loved this wine, awarding it both “Outstanding” and “Top Value” designations. He found “fine volume and richness,” with “an opulent mid-palate mouthfeel,” calling the finish “firm and serious.” It’s juicy modern red Burgundy but with perfect ripeness and an old-school texture.

The Domain: Passionate about the quality of our wines, our first goal is to have grapes of perfect quality, so we want to keep a free and creative spirit, we do not claim any label, not wishing to be locked into any sectarian framework.
The soils of our vines are grassed , and therefore colonized by lawns selected by us, in particular clovers and alfalfa which capture nitrogen from the air , a natural fertilizer. The effects are beneficial for the environment : development of microbial life in the soil, better resistance to drought, carbon capture and fight against erosion. The presence of grass creates competition on the surface for the roots of the vine, which forces the roots of the vine to seek its resources very deep in the soil. The vine is thus less reactive to climatic hazards such as excess water due to heavy rainfall or excessive heat and drought.
This technique also allows us to control yields and thus better respect the typicality of each terroir .

We only use modern and biodegradable phytosanitary products, we do not use copper (pesticide) which destroys the microbial life of the soil (heavy metal remaining in the soil).
This technique allows us to drastically reduce the number of tractor passes in the context of vine diseases and thus reduce our carbon footprint, the current urgent priority .
