“Chamodère” is a portmanteau word created from chameau (camel) and dromadaire (dromedary). This Gamay is a special animal! The grapes come from 40 year old vines grown on sandy soil and left mostly whole cluster (70%). 15 day maceration with daily punch down, fermentation with indigenous yeasts. 30% of the wine is aged in 3 to 7 year old barrels, the rest in concrete tanks. The combination of a traditional carbonic maceration and partly destemmed grapes results in a Regnié with silky tannins, and great fruit and texture. Floral and mineral, with a salinity coming from the soil.
The combination of traditional carbonic maceration with a part a de-stemmed grapes contributes to create this fruity Regnie whom you will remember by its silky tannins and impressive mouthfeel. A wine of pleasure, delicious to savor… simply.
