Alcohol: 13%

Grape(s): 100% Pinot Noir

Localization: Pommard Les Rugiens, Burgundy, France

Tasting Notes: Displays a background hint of wood influence, framing a highly expressive nose of raspberry liqueur and violets and spice followed by minerally and relatively finely detailed flavors built on a solid base of minerality and a complex, powerful and exceptionally long finish. This is a bit awkward today and will need time in bottle to really come into its own.

The Domain: Les Rugiens Premier Cru is located on a sloping terroir atop a rocky subsoil. It is one of the village's most sought-after terroirs. The iron-rich nature of the soil gives the wines their sustained colour. Les Rugiens is also a windy, sunny terroir. The Domaine de Montille's Pommard Premier Cru is sumptuous. It develops violet and licorice overtones. Long and generous, it is nevertheless somewhat elegant. A wine ready for drinking after 7-20 years' keeping.
