Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, 90 points- Palish medium red. Sweet aromas of plum, redcurrant, tobacco, earth and underbrush; smoky and soil-driven but clean (Landanger pointed out that there was no hail here). Silkier on entry than the Volnays and Pommards, then rich and sweet in the mid-palate, with good life and lift on the back. Finishes with dusty tannins.
BLEND: 100% Pinot Noir
VINEYARDS: Estate vines total one acre in this east-facing grand cru. Soils
are a classic Burgundian mix of limestone and clay.
AGE OF VINES: 30-50 years
WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested. Destemmed. Cold maceration for one
week; fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank. Aged in French oak barrel
(30% new) for 18 months. Minimal sulfur addition. Moved via gravity;
bottled unfined and unfiltered.
