The Reverdy’s estate vineyards are planted in Sancerre’s famed Terres Blanches, or white earth, soil very near their winery in the hamlet of Chaudenay. The vineyards’ proximity to the winery lets them precisely time the harvest of each plot and sort and vinify their fruit quickly, when the fruit is in its freshest and best condition. Cyrille Reverdy, a natural talent who trained at the prestigious Wine School in Beaune, has refined his precision style and continually improved the estate's wines since 2000. Their new state-of-the-art winery has allowed him to take the next big step up. This is truly an estate on the rise.
This Sancerre has bright lemon pulp color with pale green reflections. Inviting aromas of verbena, Meyer lemon citrus, fresh peach, and chalky minerals grow as the wine airs. The palate is medium weight with excellent concentration and length. Flavors of citrus fruit and pith up front expand to a rich and vibrant mid-palate adding peach and lychee. The finish brings all the lip-smacking fruit together and wraps it around trademark Sancerre minerals. The palate-clinging finish lingers long. Enjoy this beauty with goat cheeses, poultry or any type of shellfish or baked seafood. It will drink beautifully for four to five years, and maybe longer, if you can resist that long!
