Grape: Chardonnay 100%
Location: Meursault, Burgundy
Tasting Note: Bright pale lemon pulp in color with green reflections. The aromas are fresh and intense with orange blossom, chalky minerals, minty spice, and almond-skin notes building on the citrus and bosc pear fruit notes. The palate adds crisp apple and pear to the vibrant citrus fruit and lemon-butter flavors. The finish has great intensity, energy, and texture. This elegant wine is beautiful today, especially with 30 minutes airing in a decanter. It can be enjoyed until eight years after the vintage.
Food Pairing: Serve this refined and elegant white Burgundy with lighter dishes, like white fish pan-fried in butter, lemon, a little salt and pepper, and nothing else. It would also be great with oven-roasted chicken.
The Domain: This exceptional vineyard is perched high on the slope, just above the world-famous "Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières" vineyard. This steep plot faces east, south-east, keeping it cool in the hottest parts of the day. At 900 feet, this is one of Meursault’s highest vineyards, with thin and rocky soil, limestone subsoil, and less clay than lower vineyards like “En L’Ormeau.” The old vines, 20-40+ years old, create an energetic, mineral, and refined Meursault with elegant texture.
