Château Laffitte-Teston's Vieilles Vignes is made from 100% Tannat vines that are 80 years old and yield only 30-50 hectoliters/hectare. The juice stays in contact with the skins for 21 days during which time the juice is pumped over the cap twice a day to obtain great extraction. After fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in new and one year old barrels for 13 months. The resultant wine is rich, concentrated and powerful with flavors of small black fruits, chocolate and coffee complimented by rich vanilla and oak notes. The finish is long and complex. Enjoy with full flavored meat dishes and full flavored vegetables, eggplant in particular.
