Alcohol: 12.5%

Grape(s): Cabernet Franc

Localization: Touraine, Loire Valley, France

Tasting Notes: Aromas of crushed blackberries, sun-warmed Victoria plums, and lavender emerge at first, then intermingle with suggestions of freshly shaved cedar, smoked black walnuts, and sweet poblano peppers as the nose evolves in the glass. On the palate, the juicy, ripe black fruit feels crunchy and vibrant (“dynamisé,” Fabrice calls it), with fresh mouthwatering acidity, lightly salty minerality, and fine silky tannins. The overall impression is of juicy black fruit berry freshness.

Food Pairing: Enjoy it as an aperitif, with BBQ, or with young cheeses

The Domain: Family property for four generations, our 30 hectare estate is located around the village of Chezelet in the town of Cravant les Coteaux.

Aimé, my great-grandfather, first owner, owned three hectares of vines on the localities "Les Poileries" and la Queue de Poêlon ". At the time the estate was mixed farming. His son Hubert took over the farm in 1935 and developed wine production during the Second World War. (Red wine was a food substitute used in times of food shortage). The vineyard reached a total area of 17 hectares at the end of the 1950s.

Jacky Gasnier, my father, will take over the operation in 1966. Immediately he will focus on wine production and run the estate in monoculture! For more than 10 years, he restructured the vineyard and transformed what was left of plots of table wine into AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée).

From a young age, I knew that one day I would embrace the profession of winegrower. After studying agriculture in the region and several experiences in Entre deux Mers, Champagne and Burgundy. I arrived on the estate to help my father. That day, I remember it perfectly, at the time I was 21, it was September 26, 1990, the first day of the harvest, the start of a great adventure ...

Since the 2000s, my wife Sandrine has joined me in this adventure. Since then we have pushed further, and we are also working in biodynamic agriculture. We have obtained Ecocert certifications, in Bio and Demeter for biodynamics, since the 2008 harvest. Date on which we switched to organic farming throughout the estate.
